But Veracruz is also home to wild boar and turkey, to vanilla orchids and cacao, to tropical fruits and a rainbow of chiles. For nearly five hundred years, the cuisine of Alvarado has evolved through the influence of indigenous, Spanish, French and African cultures in the port city.
It is this food that Raul and Olga brought to Dallas with their former restaurant, La Palapa Veracruzana, which the Dallas Observer named the Best Mexican Restaurant in Dallas and that Pegasus News called “fresh, flavorful, unique…a destination for people who like to eat food and talk about it a lot afterwards.”

Mesa’s commitment to sustainability includes an elegant interior designed using reclaimed woods and metal.
