Gear Spotlight: Fischer Spider 62 XC Ski Package

We have been covering cross country ski offerings that give versatility of use. Fischer has a range of products meant for light backcountry use called "Offtrack Cruising." We also recently added the Adventure 60 model from this line, which can be used both in or off track. Today we are featuring the Spider 62 ski package, meant specifically for off-track use.

The Spider 62 if an offtrack cruiser that adds a metal edge for gripping in varied terrain. With a 62mm sidecut, it provides a bit of float for light backcountry conditions, or for use right outside your back door. Spider 62's "Speed Grinding" base finish gives perfect gliding properties in all snow conditions. The Nordic Rocker Camber allows for better gliding over soft, unprepared snow, as well as quicker, easier turning. The core, in addition to using lightweight wood, has Air Tec air channels that reduce weight. The Spider provides an improved climbing ability thanks to the Offtrack Crown, especially suited for offtrack in all kinds of terrain.

You can pair the Adventure 60 with the Offtrack 3 boot, which is made for offtrack cruising. The Offtrack boot provides an integrated adjustable gaiter, sealed zipper, and lace covers to provide waterproof protection from snow encountered in untracked terrain. A wool-like liner keeps your feet warm and dry. The Offtrack boots feature the Fischer Sport Fit Concept technology built for all-round usage - a comfortable last, reliable hold and stability, generous cushioning and more volume in the forefoot and toe area guarantee warmth and a pleasant in-boot feeling. The internal anatomically shaped heel cap is very light, and is thermoformable for a better individual fit. Entry loops and wide-opening allow for easier ability to put and take off your boots. Optimum support in difficult terrain. The non-slip sole gives support when walking out of the skis. Don't confuse these with the Offtrack non-BC models, which use a different binding.

Rounding off this potential ski package is the Offtrack pole. A robust aluminum shaft provides a perfect balance between breaking strength and weight. A large, ultra-light (17g) backcountry basket allows for better performance without sinking into the snow too far. The grip is ergonomically shaped natural cork, providing a comfortable hand position that absorbs perspiration. Finally, a preformed, breatable EVA strap gives additional support.
