Gear Spotlight: Fischer Adventure 60 XC Ski Package
Posted on February 20, 2014 by
We have been covering some of the current and upcoming models of cross country skis that are designed for a bit of versatility in using on-track and light backcountry. Fischer has a ski set-up for just that kind of versatility, the Adventure 60.

The Adventure 60 ski works well in groomed tracks or out of track. The width is made to fit easily in a classic track, yet still provide some buoyancy over ungroomed terrain. Ultra Tuning technology in the base allows for unrestricted gliding, with an offset structure to make the ski fast. A Rental Tail Protector make the tails extremely durable, and strong enough to meet requirements as rentals at nordic centers. The fibre glass wood core has integrated air channels to save weight, while also providing better pressure distribution and making the ski more resistant to breaking compared to a solid wood core. The Premium Crown is a combination Single/Double Crown for greater climbing and better gliding in all snow conditions.
The 2013/14 model is shown above. You may be able to find some deals on that model, but stocks are very limited at this point. The 2014/15 model, in addition to new graphics, will have new features such as a Vario Crown and Power Layer for light weight each kicking and gliding.
Lengths: 169, 179, 189cm
Weight/Length: 1.690g (179cm).
Base: Sintec
Binding: Touring Classic NIS
Retail Price: $169

You can pair the Adventure 60 with the Offtrack 3 boot, which is made for offtrack cruising. The Offtrack boot provides an integrated adjustable gaiter, sealed zipper, and lace covers to provide waterproof protection from snow encountered in untracked terrain. A wool-like liner keeps your feet warm and dry. The Offtrack boots feature the Fischer Sport Fit Concept technology built for all-round usage - a comfortable last, reliable hold and stability, generous cushioning and more volume in the forefoot and toe area guarantee warmth and a pleasant in-boot feeling. The internal anatomically shaped heel cap is very light, and is thermoformable for a better individual fit. Entry loops and wide-opening allow for easier ability to put and take off your boots. Don't confuse these with the Offtrack BC models, which use a Backcountry binding.

The grip is ergonomically shaped natural cork, providing a comfortable hand position that absorbs perspiration. Finally, a preformed, breatable EVA strap gives additional support.
