Gear Spotlight: Atomic Skis Skiwear
Posted on February 18, 2014 by

Xploritall got a sneak peak at the latest and greatest snowsports gear unveiled at the SIA Snow Show in Denver. We will be posting Gear Spotlights on some of the best products we saw. Most won't be released until Fall 2014.
Atomic Skis is venturing into the ski apparel market for the first time in Fall 2014. Their debut will be comprised of three lines of tiered technologies and price points: Cliffline, Ridgeline, and Timberline. All are designed specifically for skiers, not as do-it-all ski/mountaineering/climbing pieces. All lines focus on layering, though each has its own different take.
Cliffline offers the highest performance of Atomic's skiwear range - top quality engineering for skiers who like to push hard. The highlight of Cliffline is the Stormfold Jacket (leftmost jacket in above photo), which uses "adaptive layering" techniques. Actually a 2-in-1 jacket, they've made the PrimaLoft Silver insulated midlayer the main jacket with Pertex Endurance fabric, and a separate, lightweight storm shell made with Pertex Shield+ 2.5L, that can be stashed in a back pocket on the mid-layer when not needed.
Skiable Mid-layer: Pertex Endurance with DWR Treatment, Pertex Equilibrium, Primaloft Silver
Foldaway Storm Shell: Pertex Shield 2.5+L
Features: Back pocket for foldaway storm shell, Thermaflect lining, strategic venting, fully taped seams, Recco sensor.
MSRP: $700
Ridgeline is geared for versatility in various conditions, using tradional layering. Separate PrimaLoft insulated midlayers and Pertex shells can be selected based on different conditions. The 3L Jacket (middle photo above) is the highlight of Ridgeline.
Timberline combines the PrimaLoft insulation and Pertex waterproof technologies into one garment, yet is still lightweight and non-bulky. The Ridgeline 2L Jacket is right photo above.
