Gear Spotlight: Atlas 8 Base Camp

Posted on August 7, 2013 by Jamie Brady   comments

Xploritall attended the Outdoor Retailer Summer Show to check out outdoor, lifestyle, and travel products to be released in the upcoming Fall and Spring seasons. We will be covering some of the more interesting things we saw at the show. Once we receive products to demo and get a chance to test them out, we'll be reviewing them as well.

Precision Travel Werx announced their newest premium sport trailer, the Atlas 8 Base Camp. The Atlas 8 is a cargo trailer for the adventurer, allowing you to pull your gear behind your vehicle and reduce the drag associated with roof-mounted storage racks. That in turn will help save gas on long trips. Additionally, no more trying to reach up to your roof to stash and retrieve gear. It has a 73 cubic foot storage capacity in two compartments, plus optional roof rack attachments for bikes and boats. The trailer is waterproof and lockable to protect your stuff. The gas-assist lid and tailgate both remove to allow you to carry larger items. The colors can be selected to match your vehicle, and full-custom wraps are available for even more personalization or promotional opportunities.

While the Atlas 8 is not new, the new Base Camp model adds one of Precision Travel Werx's most requested features: a tent attachment. The tent structure attaches to the trailer, providing a total floor space of 60 square feet to accommodate 4 people. The trailer additionally has a sleeping platform to support two people. The tent is easy to set up, as it is self-supported and requires no ropes or guidelines. The tent attachment comes with the Atlas 8 Base Camp, or can be purchased separately if you already own the previous Atlas 8.

The base model price will set you back $6,595.
