Competitive Cyclist and Strava Program Paused
Posted on April 20, 2015 by

We recently told you about Competitive Cyclist, a premiere online cycling retailer, rolling out a new partnership with Strava. The program let users of the performance tracking app to earn purchase credits at Competitive Cyclist based on the time they spend riding their bikes.
The program turned out to be so overwhelmingly popular that Competitive Cyclist had to put on the brakes to new sign-ups, and will stop issuing credits as of April 21st. The program is not completely dead; they are working on a revamped version and will make an announcement about version 2.0 on May 19th.
Any credits already earned are still valid, but will expire at the end of May as they would have under the original program.
A great idea that turned out to be too UNprofitable, I guess. On the bright side, that means a LOT of people were out riding their bikes!
Don't forget to join us on the Xploritall Strava group for friendly tracking of weekly cycling miles. Perhaps it could be a great way to find people to ride with on your travels.
Full Disclosure and Support Plea
Xploritall is totally free to use. To cover the costs of running the site, we have some affiliate partnerships with retailers, including Competitive Cyclist. That does not influence our blog post opinions. We try to write about and review things we use ourselves or would be interested in using, and take great pains to point out both the pros AND cons. However, if you choose to do business with stores and manufacturers we are affiliated with, please consider clicking the links to enter their websites in order to support Xploritall. That means once you are ready to spend some of those Competitive Cyclist credits you earned, please follow the Competitive Cyclist link from our Gear Store...
